All I ever wanted was for one of my stories to come true, but you're not here anymore are you?
———
It's been almost a year since you left me standing in the airport terminal with nothing more than a goodbye. If I would have known your flight would crash halfway across the ocean, I would have gone with you. We could have been castaways together. The worst part is I never even got to say, "I love you." And that's my biggest regret; a regret that now swims the ocean endlessly in search of you.
———
I still remember our senior prom and I wish I could tell you it was the best night of my life. You were the first girl I didn't have to try and impress because for some reason you already saw me as something special. You would always tell me, "It's not your good qualities that drew me to, it's all of your flaws." I had learned to love each and every one of my imperfections and so had she. She even thought they made me beautiful. If only she knew how beautiful she is. I remember how I was so nervous to dance with her so she pulled me even closer to her body. That was when I knew I loved her.
———
Some days I wonder if we were meant to be or for once in my life luck was on my side. Either way, I wouldn't trade you for the world. Besides, you are my world.

What Do You See
What do you see
When you look at me
A stunning face?
A beauty?
A grace?
I see someone with a double chin
Pants that slide down
Cause she wears them
Again and again
A quiet look
And dead, but beautiful, eyes
Asking to die
But terrified of that option
Whether it be by her hands
Or someone else's
Calloused hands
From simple work
No longer soft
Or carefree
Only ragged
The only ones
Who have actually seen
Or felt
What's inside of me

Make a Change
We are not an object that
you can label by a color.
We have hopes and dreams
And plans for the future.
We are not someone who
You can use to make
Yourself feel better.
N****, whore, negro,
Slut, baby daddy
Isn’t a title you have
The right to bestow
On us or on any
Person of color.
Why can’t we live in
A world where we don’t
Have to be worried about
Our brothers being shot
And our sisters looking for
Their children’s fathers.
We are all human beings.
We all love and love others,
So why can’t we accept
Our differences and come
Together as one people
Who are all on this planet
We call Earth.

I like the idea of his regret swimming in the ocean looking for the girl, and I like what you're trying to say with the third section, but the change of pronouns (you to she) sort of breaks the spell. Also, the line "If only she knew how beautiful she is" is bothering me for some reason, but I can't quite put my finger on it.
